FAQ

What does the rest-of-season board rank?

Value over the games that are left. We take each player's projected points across the remaining weeks and subtract what a replacement starter at his position projects over the same stretch, then sort on the gap — so a quarterback with a bigger raw total can still sit behind a scarcer running back. One limit worth knowing before you trade on it: nothing that has happened in 2026 reaches these numbers. The rates come from completed seasons, and the only things that move week to week are how many games are left and which team each player is on. The window shrinks; the read on a player does not move with his last three games. For that, use the weekly projections, which are built on this season and regraded against it.

How is this different from the draft board?

Three ways. It projects the games that are left rather than all seventeen, so every number shrinks as the season burns down. It runs 150 players instead of 300, because 300 deep is a draft-day depth chart rather than a board anyone sets a lineup from — and the cut is by value alone, so the positional mix falls where it falls, one position running deeper than another. And it carries no draft position, because where a player went in August tells you little about what he is worth in November. The draft board stays up all season, unchanged: we pinned its last preseason version before Week 1, and that pinned copy is what a season-end grade will score.

How much should I trust the range on a shortened season?

Less than you would trust it on a full season. The band is meant to cover the middle of a player's likely outcomes: the P50 is the midpoint, P10 and P90 the edges. Every band we print carries the same audit: ours are drawn to hold 80% of results and have held 66.7% to 83.2% on data the model never saw. This board adds a second problem that is its own. The width was measured across whole seasons and then cut in proportion to the games that are left, never re-measured on the short window it now describes — ten weeks is a different bet from seventeen, and we have not shown the width survives the shrink. Both arguments point the same way, from different directions: the real spread on a rest-of-season number runs wider than the one we print. Trade on the median.
